Trying to rationalize this, I think it is similar to how I strongly resent the limited availability of the DVC Annual Pass even though I'm not currently in the market for an Annual Pass. Maybe open registration to members who already booked one event 48 hours after all other members were given an opportunity, subject to availability.
I honestly also think they should further limit guests to one event per year, not one per park per year. And since I didn't find it amazing, I should not be bothered if one does coincide with our trip, as it does this year for the first time in six years, and I maybe cannot get in. Yet I get annoyed at the people who do, even though they're not doing anything wrong and logically I know I shouldn't be annoyed. We don't rearrange our vacation schedule around them. We've been to one of them in Magic Kingdom in 2017. I have a weird and admittedly unjustifiable view towards these events.
